The Portfolio Committee on Communications will this week on Tuesday, 26 August 2014 receive a briefing from the Minster of Communications on the Public Protector`s report into the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
Meanwhile, the Committee has noted the media reports about the allegations of misrepresentation of academic qualifications by the Chairperson of the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Board, Ms Ellen Tshabalala on her CV.
According to the Portfolio Committee Chairperson Ms Joyce Moloi-Moropa, the Committee deems it fair and proper to afford Ms Tshabalala an opportunity respond to these allegations. “As the Committee we are obligated by law to ensure fairness and impartiality when dealing with any allegations including these ones. Much work has already been done with the Parliamentary Legal Services Unit on this matter.
We have since requested Ms Tshabalala to furnish Parliament with her response to these allegations by the end of August in order for us to make an informed decision on this matter,” said Ms Moloi-Moropa.
