ICASA is holding public hearings in respect of On Digital Media’s application for transfer of its Individual Electronic Communications Network Service Licence
The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (“ICASA” or “the Authority”) advises the media, stakeholders and the public that it will hold the public hearings in respect of the application for transfer of Individual Electronic Communications Network Service (I-ECNS) licence from On Digital Media Proprietary Limited (“ODM”) to Startimes Media (South Africa) Proprietary Limited.
According to the application before the Authority, the transferee will be responsible for providing signal distribution services to the applicant for the provision of the applicant’s direct-to-home (DTH) satellite subscription broadcasting services and to any other licensed broadcaster who is authorised to provide the satellite broadcasting service.
Furthermore, the transferee will provide digital terrestrial television (DTT) signal distribution services to any other licensed television broadcaster who is authorised to provide such service on a DTT platform.
