Official opening of the South African Police Service University, Paarl
The National Commissioner of the South African Police Service (SAPS), General Riah Phiyega cordially invites the media to the official opening of South Africa’s first police university in Paarl, Western Cape on 30 January 2014 at 10h00.
The SAPS has partnered with the University of South Africa (Unisa) in a ground-breaking initiative aimed at the re-skilling and professionalisation of the SAPS and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Paarl on 22 October 2013.
The partnership entails the evolution of the SAPS Paarl academy into a dedicated, specialized university aimed at producing a new breed of police professionals equipped with the right theoretical and practical training to enable them to serve this country and its citizens diligently, efficiently and effectively.
The official opening will be presided over by the leadership of the police service, led by the Honourable Minister of Police, Nathi Mthethwa, higher education and training as well as UNISA officials.
