COGTA Minister to lead an Imbizo at the Greater Taung Local Municipality in the North West province

The Minister for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Masenyani Richard Baloyi will be leading an Imbizo to take place in the Northwest Province within the Greater Taung Local Municipality. The Imbizo is within the auspices of government initiative of the National Imbizo Focus Week with a theme “Working together for youth development and drug free South Africa”. The thematic position of the event forms part of a drive in commemorating the struggle of youth towards the democratisation of the country.

The youth has since 16 June 1976 provided the epoch in the struggle with a conviction of building a democratic, non-racist, non-sexist South Africa that belongs to all who live in it. That also entails continuous dialogue between government and the people.

The Imbizo is essentially anchored on the continuous need for heightened engagement between members of the Executive and citizens through maintaining ongoing communication platforms. The engagement during the Imbizo will be geared towards partnership outcomes that is characterised by thorough discussion, dialogue, joint problem solving and above all a necessary feedback to communities.

The Imbizo will be held as follows:
Date: 21 June 2012
Place: Greater Taung Municipality Sports Ground
Time: 10h00

The community at large and all stakeholders that have a bearing in fostering the government’s Public Participation Programme (PPP) are invited in the Imbizo.

The media are also invited to the Imbizo.
