Gauteng Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will on Monday 1 and 2 September host a Gauteng-wide Provincial Ward Councillors’ Conference.
The conference will provide an opportunity for various stakeholders operating in local government to understand each other’s issues and challenges, and most importantly, the plight of ward councillors who have been besieged with protracted violent community protests for the longest time in the recent history.
COGTA Minister Pravin Gordhan and Gauteng Premier David Makhura will be the key speakers at this Conference.
The conference will, amongst others, also present an opportunity for the newly elected MEC responsible for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements in the province, MEC Jacob Mamabolo, to for the first time, interact with all the elected public representatives under one roof.
