The South African Air Force’s “Rhino Day Initiative” Auction event scheduled for 20 September 2013 at Air Force Base Waterkloof Officers Mess, will now take place on 25 September 2013 from 10h30 at Air Force Base Waterkloof Officers Mess.
The ten (10) best judged rhino statues during a decorating competition, the original rhino sculpture “Rocco” along with eight (8) oil paintings of Rhinos will be auctioned off during a function on the day.
The South African Air Force has embarked on a month long campaign to signify its environmental obligations specifically in the Air Force Base Waterkloof’s satellite unit of Ditholo Training Area, which forms part of Dinokeng Big Five Game Reserve situated near Hammanskraaal.
The campaign involved a variety of activities such as the selling of T-shirts with the campaign’s emblem and slogan, local schools participating in a poster competition and educating children on Rhinos and the environmental impact of saving them and Rhino Statues Decorating Competition.
All proceeds generated through this initiative will be donated to the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT). You are cordially invited to send a journalist and/or photographer/cameraman to cover the event.
