The Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI) will host the 13th Public Sector Innovation Awards at Emperors Palace in Gauteng on Friday, 30th October 2015.
CPSI is an institution in the Public Service and Administration Portfolio established to identify, support, nurture, test and pilot innovative solutions
in the public sector with a view to improve service delivery.
Its primary role is to create an enabling environment for the generation and rewarding of new ideas; facilitating engagements among public, private
and non-governmental entities, with a view to establishing sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships and championing the value of and need
for innovation within the public service.
The Annual Public Sector Innovation Awards, which is now in its 13th year, aim to promote and encourage best practices in the public sector innovation
and celebrate the successes of individuals and teams at all spheres of government. The programme also serves as a tool for expanding innovation and
encouraging others to innovate for improved of service delivery.
The Minister for the Public Service and Administration Adv. Ngoako Ramatlhodi will host the ceremony and recognise innovative projects under the following
categories:
- Innovative Partnerships in Service delivery (i.e. government to government, private sector with government; CBO/NGO with government)
- Innovative use of ICTs for effective service delivery
- Innovative Service Delivery Institutions (i.e. schools, hospitals, clinics, courts, police stations)
- Innovative Enhancements of Internal Systems of Government
The category winners will then compete for the coveted Public Sector Innovator of the Year Award.
As part of the ceremony, the Minister will also recognise projects under the Special Ministerial Awards category.
The awards programme serves as an important conduit for entry into the prestigious international awards programmes such
as the United Nations Public Service Awards, the All Africa Public Sector Innovation Awards (AAPSIA) and the Africa Association
for Public Administration Management (AAPAM) Awards.
