The Gauteng Department of Health will join the world in remembering the lives of those who died from HIV and AIDS and to support people living with HIV and AIDS related illnesses at a candlelight memorial service in Freedom Park, Tshwane on Sunday.
The theme for this year's 30th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is “In solidarity”. This theme is a call to people living with HIV and AIDS and those affected by it to join hands and work together in fighting the scourge of this disease.
The aim of this event is to create awareness around the need for care and support to AIDS patients and the affected families and to inform the community about prevention, treatment, care and support services available for people living with the disease.
Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will deliver a keynote address at the event.
