The BRICS Health Ministers Cape Town Communiqué

Consistent with the mandate of the fifth BRICS Summit as outlined in the Durban Declaration of 25 March 2013, and the Joint Communiqué of the BRICS Health Ministers in Geneva on 20 May 2013, on the sideline of the 66th session of the World Health Assembly, the BRICS Health Ministers’ will address the media on the outcome of their three day (4 to 7 November) deliberations.

The conference focussed on identifying ways to accelerate collaborative efforts to achieve existing global health commitments and to overcome underlying challenges linked to Non-Communicable Diseases, maximising collaboration on priority trends for BRICS in support of the MDG’s and Post 2015 Development Agenda.

These include:

  • innovation and Technology Transfer: New paediatric formulations
  • Universal Health Coverage: Monitoring and Evaluation Tool.
  • CEWG Recommendations: Demonstration projects for research and development.
