Note: The biodiversity offset agreement for Vele Colliery is aimed at strengthening co-operation between the three parties towards the conservation and sustainable development of the Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape World Heritage Site. It is also aimed at maintaining the integrity of the site, and ensuring that the negative impacts of development are avoided, minimised or remedied in the pursuit of sustainable development. The agreement will promote the development of Mapungubwe so that it benefits the surrounding environment, the local communities and economy.
