Basic Education takes Drop All and Read Campaign to provinces, 6 Sept

Drop All and Read campaign mobilises with the help of religious leaders

The Department of Basic Education will with the support of religious faith centres take the department’s “Drop All and Read” programme to provinces on Sunday 6 September 2015 with visits by the Minister, Deputy Minister, Director-General and Deputy Directors-General to churches in six provinces.

In her Budget Vote Speech on 6 May 2015 the Minister of Basic Education, Mrs Angie Motshekga announced that the department would, off the back of resolutions at the Roundtable on Reading, rejuvenate its reading initiatives which resulted in the re-introduction of the ‘’Drop All and Read’’ programme which supports the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) which was implemented in June 2015.
