The Portfolio Committee on Basic Education will hold a two day operational planning workshop with the Department of Basic Education in Pretoria.
Provincial Education Departments, Provincial Education Committees and statutory bodies like Umalusi have been invited. The workshop will also be addressed by the Minister of Basic Education and her Deputy.
The objectives of the workshop are, among others, to identify key priority areas of the Basic Education sector, to consider provincial progress reports on teacher supply, utilisation and development as well as ensuring that all schools meet minimum infrastructure standards by 2016/17.
