Education takes centres stage at Mandela Day activities in Mvezo
Nelson Mandela International Day (or Mandela Day) is an annual international day in honour of President Mandela which encourages all global citizens to take responsibility for improving each other’s lives and addressing the world’s social injustices.
Planned activities for Mandela Day include reinforcing the existing parameter fence, a cleaning campaign and the planting of 67 Umkhanyakude trees at the school will proceed as planned.
This year the theme focuses on education. The Department of Transport, through its entity the Airports Company of South Africa, will contribute computers with software, Wireless Network Cards and Library books.
The Minister of Basic Education, Ms Angie Motshekga, will lead proceedings at the Mandela Day celebrations in Mvezo, Eastern Cape, supported by the Minister of Transport Ms Dipuo Peters.
