Africa Month Festival of ideas and cultural exchange goes to UNISA
The Department of Arts and Culture, in collaboration with UNISA’s Institute for African Renaissance Studies invite members of the media to a colloquium themed Truth Telling, Revelation and Africa’s Cultural Renaissance.
The event is part of a series of colloquia that the Department of Arts and Culture will host with various universities across the country as part of Africa Month celebrations. Proceedings include a keynote address by Professor Sipho Seepe titled “Reversing the subversion of our humanity: The Role of Higher education”
Professor Phalandwa Mulaudzi will present a lecture on “Know Music, know life, the power of indigenous music as mode of communication within southern Africa communities”.
The Department of Arts and Culture has planned a programme that will take place throughout Africa Month (May) to encourage exchange of ideas and culture among African nations. Activities planned will take place across the country and will include music, literature, theatre, visual arts, film, fashion, cuisines, seminars, exhibitions, lectures and panel discussions.
Africa Month programme will strengthen social, cultural, economic and political integration among African nations. South African residents are encouraged to observe Africa Fridays by organising events at which cuisine, fashion, music, dialogues and many other activities are used to express the fact that We Are Africa!
