'Arts and Culture Minister, Mr Paul Mashatile will give a keynote address at the Methodist Young Men‘s Guild Convention on Saturday, 2 March 2013 in Katlehong, Ekurhuleni Municipality.
One of the Department of Arts and Culture’s roles is to coordinate national efforts towards social cohesion, moral regeneration and nation-building. Faith-based organisation are the most appropriate social partners to assist government’s objective of building a united and caring nation.
It is also important for government and church leaders to interact with young people and share ideas on how to build the type of country that the youth will be proud of in their adult lives. Freedom and responsibility as well as national unity are important building blocks for social cohesion which will in turn lay a good foundation for economic participation and a better life for all.
Minister Mashatile will also speak about the Department's new strategic focus, Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE) and the role the youth can play in making MGE’s objectives a success. MGE seeks to accelerate the role played by the arts, culture and heritage sector in job creation and economic growth.
