Arts and Culture hosts Reconciliation and Transformation dialogue, 12 Dec

The Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host the Reconciliation and Transformation Dialogue on Friday, 12 December 2014 at Msunduzi Museum in Pietermaritzburg. The event will be celebrated under the theme, “20 years into Democracy, Reconciliation and Transformation – Are we there yet? “

In line with the National Development Plan, Vision 2030, Chapter 15, there is a call to craft a social contract(s) that will enable South Africa to achieve harmony across race and class, higher growth and employment, increase investment and savings. The crafting of the social compact will contribute to the promotion of a culture of dialogue, accords and commitments across society as part of our national effort to build a social compact for unity in diversity; harmonious relations across race and growth and development.

As part of commemorating Reconciliation month and celebrating 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy, this reconciliation dialogue will serve as one of the leading events up to the Day of Reconciliation.

The dialogue seeks to ask pertinent questions and proposals towards the social compact, promote nation building and social cohesion and to ensure the participation of all our people in striving for reconciliation and recognition within our rich cultural history.
