Arts and Culture hosts Ben Okri Public Lecture as part of Africa Month celebrations, 9 Apr

The Department of Arts & Culture invites media to the Public Lecture and colloquium featuring the internationally renowned author, Ben Okri (OBE).

The Institute for African Renaissance Studies at the University of South Africa (Unisa) in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) will host this event as part of various activities for the celebration of Africa Month under the theme “We are Africa”, ‘Opening the doors of learning and culture from Cape to Cairo”.

Africa Month was launched on 1 April 2015. The aim of the 2015 Africa month celebrations is to reposition the role of the arts, culture and heritage sector in redefining African identity and mainstream its contribution to the economy of the continent.

The programme will consists of two parts – a public lecture, followed by a panel discussion involving prominent African writers and artists on the theme of imagining the African Story/Telling the African Renaissance Story.
