The National Department of Arts and Culture (DAC) invites members of the media to Limpopo Youth Orchestra CD launch titled Merethetho ‘home to your roots’.
The event will take place on 23 March 2013 at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, Polokwane in Limpopo. The Deputy Minister of Arts and Culture, Dr. Joe Phaahla will deliver the keynote address.
The orchestra project is dedicated to the development and empowerment of youth from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and marginalised areas, as well as youth with physical disabilities.
Produced by internationally acclaimed artist Pops Mohamed, the CD aims to promote education and enhance cultural tolerance through arts and music. It will also raise funds for the sustainability of the orchestra and immortalise our musical heritage through research and documentation. The Limpopo Youth Orchestra has collaborated with esteemed artists such as Feya Faku, Kunle Ayo, Wouter Kellerman, Lucas Senyatso, Olufemi and Nduduzo Makhathini amongst others.
