Arts and Culture Deputy Minister, Dr Joe Phaahla, will conduct a Youth and Women Focus imbizo. The event will take place on Friday the 23rd of August 2013 in Robertson, Western Cape.
Deputy Minister Phaahla will interact with the youth and women of the community particularly the arts, heritage, language and the library sector. He will also speak to the youth on issues regarding drug abuse as part of the campaign aimed at youth development and a drug free South Africa.
The imbizo will provide an opportunity for the community to share and discuss their ideas on how they would like to work with government in order to improve service delivery.
Deputy Minister Phaahla will further outline the role of Mzansi Golden Economy (MGE) which is a new strategic focus of the department to contribute towards economic development and job creation through the arts.
The imbizo will be preceded by the hoisting of national flag at Robertson Primary School and De Villiers Primary School. This is in line with the department’s “Flag in Every School” programme which aims to install a flag in every school in the country.
