Arts and Culture and Tambo Foundation launch Conversations with Uncle OR Tambo book, 8 May

Launch of “Conversations with Uncle O.R. Tambo” book

The 27th of October 2017 marked what would have been Oliver Reginald 100th birthday. The Oliver & Adelaide Tambo Foundation continues their commemoration of his centenary until the eve of his 101st birthday, on the 26th of October 2018.

One of the most exciting projects to come out of the centennial celebrations is the launch of a book, edited by Ambassador Lindiwe Mabuza:

Conversations with Uncle O.R. Tambo – Childhood Memoirs in Exile.

Over thirty letters were received. Contributors include: Sonja de Bruyn Sebotsa, Thami Ntenteni, Lyndall Shope Mafole, Lawson Naidoo and Sisonke Msimang.

“The genesis of this book resides deep in the DNA of Oliver Tambo’s ANC: his ethical, principled, visionary, humane and compassionate, practical leadership.

Oliver Tambo pulled many of us with our flat-footedness of soul to run the race with him. So, when 2017 was declared the centenary of his birthday, we asked ourselves how we might, in a meaningful way, honour him and enable our people to know and appreciate the scope of the huge work he has accomplished,” said Ambassador Mabuza.

The University of Johannesburg’s SARChi Chair for African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy, in partnership with the Department of Arts & Culture, Real African Publishers and the Tambo Foundation, invite members of the media to conduct pre-event interviews, attend and cover the event as follows:
