Arts and Culture and partners host Public Time Travel on Freedom Charter 1955/ 2015, 29 Jun

The Department of Arts & Culture in partnership with Freedom Park, Bridging Ages International and Bridging Ages South Africa will host the Public Time Travel event on the Freedom Charter 1955/2015 at the Walter Sisulu Freedom Square, Kliptown, on 29 June 2015 at 09:00.

Bridging Ages is an international organisation focusing on the use of local heritage for the benefit of local communities. The Time Travel concept was developed by Kalmar County Museum in Sweden and is promoted by Bridging Ages organisation to connect and confront challenges of today and engage audiences to shape their future.

The purpose of the event is to educate South African citizen of all races especially the youth to reflect on and express the importance of the Freedom Charter. The programme of the day will include re-enacting the scene and atmosphere of the Congress of the People in 1955 and the interpretation of the meaning of the Freedom Charter in modern-day South Africa.
