Anti-rape campaing launch

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo in collaboration with various stake holders will be launching an anti-rape campaign with the theme “Force Is Rape” in Polokwane on Friday 3 May 2013 at 09h00.

The campaign will be in the form of a march through the streets of Polokwane that will commence at the SABC Park. The march will be led by the SAPS Band followed by marchers from the SAPS clad in uniform and partners from Limpopo provincial government departments, African National Congress Women's League, Black Leopards Football Club, municipalities, political parties, business fraternity and non-governmental organisations.

The march will proceed to Noorderland School for the continuation of the program. The marchers will then be addressed by the Deputy National Commissioner – Lieutenant General (Dr) Leah Mofomme, Limpopo Provincial Commissioner-Lieutenant General Simon Mpembe, and the MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison – Ms Florence Radzilani, Executive Mayor of Polokwane – Mr Freddy Greaver and District Mayor of Capricorn- Mr Lawrence Mapoulo.

Messages of support will be rendered by Moral Regeneration Movement, Sonke Gender Justice Network and ANC Women`s League. Various government departments and non-governmental organisations will also be exhibiting during the campaign to showcase their services to the community.

“Force Is Rape” together let us join hands in the fight against the scourge of rape in our province.
