African Peer Review Mechanism Review Mission engages on provincial consultations
South Africa’s African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) National Governing Council (NGC) together with the Country Review Mission are currently conducting Provincial Consultations.
This is part of the 2nd Generation Review process of the country and ensuring its credibility to ultimately produce the Country Self- Assessment Report (CSAR) at the end of the review.
Established in 2003, the APRM is a mutually agreed instrument for self-assessment, peer-learning, and experience-sharing in democracy and good governance voluntarily acceded by the member states of the African Union (AU) primarily to foster the adoption of policies, standards and practices that lead to political stability, high economic growth, sustainable and inclusive development, as well as accelerated regional and continental integration. It is also to ensure the monitoring and evaluation of AU Agenda 2063 and SDGs 2030.
The Review Mission is taking place from 06-22 December 2021 with the NGC at the core of the functioning and success of the review mission through mobilizing and ensuring participation of all stakeholders and citizens in the review process.
This process that takes place through nine workshops in all provinces, will culminate in a national workshop in Gauteng.
