76 year old beneficiary to receive energy efficient house.

Mr Zwelinzima Mange, a 76 year old beneficiary, will receive the keys to his PHP house in Site C, Khayelitsha, on 14 June at 12h00. He will receive his keys from Western Cape Human Settlements Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela, along with 75 year old Ms Khanyisile Nobuzana.

PHP, or Peoples Housing Process, is a housing program in which the beneficiaries play an active role in the project management and construction, which leads towards their empowerment and sense of ownership.

The beneficiaries, all who earn less than R3500 pm, will also receive donations of energy efficient light bulbs from a sponsor company, NTL Lemnis. The bulbs are 80% more efficient than a regular incandescent bulb, and cost around R46 a year, at 8 hours use a day to run, as compared to R230 per year for a regular 60W bulb.

All media are invited.
