​​​​​​​Deputy President David Mabuza appear in a hybrid plenary sitting of the National Assembly, 09 Dec


Deputy President David Mabuza will tomorrow (9 December) appear in a hybrid plenary sitting of the National Assembly (NA) to answer questions from Members of Parliament.

Holding regular quarterly question and answer sessions by the President, Deputy President, and the Cabinet Ministers is one of the methods in which Parliament, as specified in section 92(2) of the Constitution, holds the Executive to account.

The questions to be posed to Deputy President Mabuza will cover a range of issues, including:

  • The State’s decision to no longer bail out state-owned enterprises, as announced during the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement by the Minister of Finance.
  • The Deputy President’s visit to the Russian Federation
  • Plans to fast track the restitution process of land reform in District Six
  • Progress made by the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Land Reform and Agriculture to create a million jobs by 2030 in the agricultural sector.
  • The role of the Government in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region in ensuring there is peace and stability in light of attacks on some states like Mozambique by non-governmental groupings

Meanwhile, the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will tomorrow hold a debate on the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. In the same sitting, the NCOP will also consider Select Committee on Petitions and Executive Undertakings and Joint Standing Committee on Defence reports.
