Members of the media are invited to the Resource Efficiency road shows aimed at educating tourism product owners on the importance of using available natural resources (water and energy) optimally and efficiently in their sector. This time, the road show takes place in Gauteng on 26 to 27 October 2011.
The road shows are jointly conducted by the National Department of Tourism (NDT), Departments of Environmental Affairs (DEA), Water Affairs (DWA) and Eskom. Participants at the road shows will be afforded an opportunity to learn more about resource saving measures and those who comply with the energy saving requirements will be incentivised.
The focus of the road shows will be on the Green Economy, Waste Management in Tourism, Water Conservation and Demand Management, Energy Efficiency in Tourism, Universal Accessibility and Climate Change. The National Minimum Standard for Responsible Tourism that was launched by the Minister of Tourism on the 12 September 2011 in Knysna will be discussed in detail.
