Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile will on Thursday, 3 February 2011, hold a meeting with sport federations in the province.
The meeting is part of the MEC's ongoing effort to resolve the challenges facing organised sport in the province. The MEC will present a report back to the sport federations about the process of re-establishing a properly constituted Gauteng Sports Council.This follows meetings and consultations MEC Maile has been engaged in as part of doing away with two sport councils.
"We have made tremendous progress and the two groups have since decided to dissolve the duplicate structures and move towards one unified body. Everybody has committed themselves to focussing on the real issue -development," said Maile
