Gauteng Provincial Legislature partners with Chinese community in a poverty alleviation project in Diepsloot

The Chinese Community led by the Chinese Consul General, Mr LI Jiangning in South Africa, has partnered with the Gauteng Provincial Legislature in donating food parcels to 300 families in Diepsloot that have been affected by a high rate of unemployment and had no means of generating income for their families. The event will take place as follows:

The Chinese Poverty Alleviation Project started in 2008 where different Chinese business enterprises contribute an amount of R250 000 in a form of food parcels and donate it to 300 families who are struggling to make ends meet. For the past years since the inception of the project, Alexandra benefited three times, Soweto and Lensaria have both benefit once on this project. “As the Chinese Community, we want to show people of Gauteng our gratitude and generosity as they have accepted us and for supporting our business operations in the city, which is why we want to share with them our gains in South Africa ” alluded Mr Yaung the Project Leader from the China Consulate in South Africa.

The programme will include the Address by the Chinese Consul General, Mr LI Jiangning, Ward Councillors whose wards are benefiting from this project, the Hon. Speaker of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Ms Lindiwe Maseko and representatives from Members of the families that have been fortunate to receive this donation of 300 food parcels.
