Gauteng Provincial Legislature to host the 2012 Youth Sector Parliament

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature in partnership with Ekurhuleni Municipality will in celebration of Youth Month, host its Inaugural Youth Sector Parliament under the theme “Education and Learning to address Youth unemployment, poverty and inequality”. The Youth Sector Parliament aims to,  amongst others; encourage young people to participate in the legislative processes on issues affecting them, elicit challenges faced by the youth and providing a platform for young people to engage with the Gauteng Provincial Government.

The Youth Sector Parliament has been scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: Monday, the 18 June 2012
Venue: Ekurhuleni, Germiston: Council Chambers
Time: 09h00 - 15h00

Amongst other issues the following topics will be in discussion:

  • Youth unemployment and economic development
  • Access to Financial Aid: Education & Business Opportunities and
  • Youth Agriculture and Food Security;
  • Substance Abuse amongst the Youth.

In participation to the Sector Parliament different stakeholders namely; Organised Youth Groups; Youth Business formations; Women’s Groups; Institutions of Higher Learning; South African Disability Alliance; 2011 Sector Parliaments Speakers; Municipal Youth Desks; Religious Groups; Lesbian &Gay Society and the South African Youth Council.
