Gauteng Provincial Legislature holds meeting with farming communities

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature Portfolio Committee of Agriculture and Rural Development will hold a meeting with farming communities to discuss agrarian reform with a small and large farming sector, on Saturday, 25 February 2012, at Boksburg Customer Care Area, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality at 08h30.

The Portfolio Committee of the Agriculture and Rural Development Portfolio Committee has invited various stakeholders to participate as part of strengthening an oversight by the committee over the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

In light of championing and strengthening public participation with stakeholders, it is thus the Committee’s view that engagements with the farming community is critical in ensuring that a sustainable agrarian reform with a small and large farming sector is achieved.

The focus of the Road Show will be on the challenges and successes that farmers are faced with on the quest to ensuring that food security is achieved for all in the Province. Furthermore the Committee will source solutions on how best to assist the farming community through its engagements with the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on issues emanating from the Road Shows.
