As part of the 2011 Human Rights programme the Gauteng government together with the Sedibeng District and Emfuleni Municipalities have different activities lined up for the month of March. The activities will be happening in different venues starting this week:
Language colloquium: 11 March 2011
The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will hold a language colloquium to review the provincial language policy framework aimed at guiding departments and municipalities in developing their own language policies.

Craft Exhibition: 11 to 31 March 2011
Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will hold the Pan African Craft Exhibitionfeaturing artist outside South Africa to promote cultural tourism and product offering.
The exhibition is a build-up to the Human Rights Day commemoration.

Memorial lecture on Human Rights Day: Tuesday, 15 March 2011

Imbawula story telling: Thursday, 17 and Friday, 25 March 2011
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in Sedibeng Municipality will host the Imbawula Story Telling and Poetry.
The survivors of the massacre will tell stories of that eventful and tragic day around imbawula

Cemetery cleaning: Friday, 18 March 2011
The Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Sedibeng Municipality, Sharpeville survivors and their families and the community of Sharpeville will hold the Cleaning of the Graves ceremony.

Puisano Live Music: Saturday, 19 March 2011
The Department of Sport, Arts, Recreation and Culture will host the Puisano Live Music to promote Gauteng as a home of Live music, through staging live performances.
The live performance is a build-up to the Human Rights Day commemoration

National library week: 19 to 26 March 2011
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the National Department of Arts and Culture will host the National Library week to promote the culture of reading among the communities.
The National Library Week will be launched on the 11 March.

Candle light memorial: Sunday, 20 March 2011
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Sedibeng Municipality and the Khulumani Support group will hold the Candle Lighting ceremony.
The ceremony’s aim is to remember the Sharpeville massacre under the theme”Candle Lighting: Remembering the night before”.

Human Rights Day: Monday, 21 March 2011
Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with Sedibeng Municipality, Emfuleni Municipality hosts the Gauteng Human Rights Day commemoration. The day will start with wreath laying ceremonies at the cemetery and at the Sharpeville Memorial.

Constitutional dialogues: Monday, 21 March 2011
The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with Department of Justice and Constitutional Development will host the Constitutional Dialogues on the Constitution of South Africa.
The aim of these dialogues is to promote Human Rights as per the SA Constitution.
