The Gauteng Provincial Government, in partnership with Gauteng City Region Observatory and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), will on Wednesday, 30 November, 2011 launch the Territorial Review of the Gauteng City Region.
The review was conducted by OECD, an independent organisation, at the request of the Gauteng Provincial Government in 2009. It is anticipated that the Review would provide a credible source of data and analysis on questions of economic development, social equity, urban and rural development, governance, spatial planning, sustainability and quality of life.
The Territorial Review will also serve as a base document for the Gauteng Vision 2055 - a long-term plan and vision for the Gauteng City Region to 2055.
The OECD is an international organisation which uses city region scales to assess key socio-economic trends and makes high-level recommendations that can assist government to tackle the economic, social and governance challenges of a globalised economy.
