Gauteng launches revamped Operation Clean Audit

In a bid to ensure that municipalities receive clean audits by 2014, the Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing is re launching Operation Clean Audit for municipalities. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that all municipalities in Gauteng are able to receive clean audits.

Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will address the province’s MECs and mayors at the launch of the revamped clean audit initiative.

The official launch of the event will follow a workshop on the campaign which is to take place during the day.

The delegates at the workshop will review the initiative and reflect on the challenges experienced in the implementation of the clean audit operation, while looking at the municipal finance programme of action. Workshop participants are also expected to come up with interventions required over the medium term to support the development of municipal financial management and ensuring that municipalities receive favourable audit reports.

The event will take place as follows:
Date: 15 October 2009
Time: 18h00
Venue: Emperors Palace, Ekurhuleni
