Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will launch the Provincial Policy Framework targeted at the interests of women, as part of the commemoration to mark the 55th Anniversary of the 1956 women’s march.
The Premier together with mayor of the biggest municipality in Africa Mayor Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, will lead proceedings at the provincial event to be held at the Unions Buildings on 9 August.
During her address the Premier will launch the Gauteng Policy Framework on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment as Gauteng takes charge in the development of women.
According to MEC Maile, whose department is coordinating the day on behalf of the Gauteng government, the framework will go a long way in the province leading in the development and growth of women. “Gauteng is creating an enabling environment for women to help other women and through the adoption of the framework we are sure to work towards a society which is more gender equal,” said MEC Maile.
The framework which is based on the Gauteng Provincial Government priorities talks to the empowerment of women economically, educationally and including services to women in general.
