In an effort to minimise the stigma and to protect the rights of mental health service users, the Gauteng Department of Health will tomorrow officially open the Lufuno Neuropsychiatry Centre in Tara Hospital, Sandton.
This centre offers HIV comprehensive care management and treatment for the surrounding catchment area as well as an integrated outpatient neuropsychiatry service for clients with mental illness and HIV.
Neuropsychiatry is an interface between neurology and psychiatry and addresses the cognitive, emotional and behavioral symptoms that result from brain disorders.
Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will deliver a keynote address at the event.
