On Friday, 21 May 2010, Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC, Qedani Mahlangu, will present the department's budget to the provincial legislature.
In her speech, the MEC will outline the department's plans for the 2010/11 which include increasing life expectancy, combating HIV and AIDS, reducing the burden of disease including tuberculosis (TB), contributing to poverty alleviation, construction of four new Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, eradicating social crimes as well as building an effective healthcare system.
The department's plans for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup such as human resources, facilities, equipments as well as plans to combat human trafficking will also be highlighted in the speech.
MEC Mahlangu will also touch on the new financial control measures that the department has put in place this financial year.
