Gauteng Golden Oldies off to the national games in KwaZulu-Natal

The Gauteng team of grandmothers and grandfathers are on their way to KwaZulu-Natal to participate in the annual National Golden Games. The 98 member team made up of players between the ages of 60 and 80 will be participating in athletics as well as other special sports for older persons, including soccer.

In a befitting gesture the Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts Culture and Recreation Ms Nelisiwe Moerane will see the team off at a sendoff function starting at 10am at the Birchwood Conference Centre.

Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane will be joining President Zuma to wish Banyana Banyana well. Gauteng is sending its strongest team to the National games starting tomorrow in Richards-Bay where all the other eight provinces will also be featured.

The team will fly out to KwaZulu-Natal at 16h00 this afternoon.
