The Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD) cordially invite the members of the media to the launch of the Gauteng Comprehensive Rural Development Strategy Friday, 25 March 2011 at Impumelelo stadium in Devon.
The Gauteng Comprehensive Rural Development Strategy is aligned to the Gauteng Employment, Growth and Development Strategy and has been approved by the Executive Council. A cross-cutting function of government, rural development involves a variety of departments at national, provincial and local levels.
The strategy and roll out plan seeks to achieve increased production and productivity of goods and services, equity in access to jobs, services, rural infrastructure, public participation in the development process, and ecological balance to ensure resources are conserved and well managed for the benefit of the present and future generations.
Members of the media are urged to attend to gain insight and understanding into rural development in Gauteng.
