The Free State team to participate in the national indigenous games

The winners (Free State team) of the 2009 provincial indigenous games will participate in the national indigenous games from 24 to 27 September 2009 in Durban.

The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation held the provincial indigenous games on 22 August 2009 in Zastron. Participants in various indigenous games codes were selected from Motheo, Thabo Mofutsanyane, Lejweleputswa, Xhariep and Fezile Dabi districts.

The overall provincial winner results were as follows:
* position one: Fezile Dabi
* position two: Lejweleputswa
* position three: Motheo

The following codes will form part of the national indigenous games in Durban:
* Dibeke
* Kho-kho
* Juskei
* Morabaraba
* Diketo
* Lintonga
* Drie Stokies

In his message to team Free State that is on its way to Durban MEC Dan Kgothule stated that, “I have no doubt that team Free State will do its best to showcase the talent which is there in our province. Let us go out there and prove to the entire country that we are indeed a province with the passion for the game.”
