The official launch of the Free State Sport Confederation as well as the celebration of achievements by athletes in the Free State will be hosted as follows:

The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Reverend Makhenkesi Stofile, the MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in the Free State, Mr Dan Kgothule, the Chairperson of the National Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation, Mr Buthana Khompela, as well as other dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion.
The Free State Sport Confederation is the controlling body of sport in the province and is constituted by all sport federations as well as local and district municipal sport councils in the province.
The launch of the sport confederation follows a general assembly of sport federations, local and district municipal sport councils, the Free State Sport Academy as well as tertiary, school and disability bodies.
The launch of the sport confederation will incorporate presentation of tokens of appreciation to athletes. Caster Semenya, who will be in the Free State for the first time, will conduct clinics for young people at the Mangaung Outdoor Sport Centre on the same day, 15 January 2010.
