First traditional health practitioners' office to be opened

In line with Traditional Health Professionals Act 22 of 2007 which paved way for the establishment of relevant structures of the traditional health practitioners, North West MEC for Health and Social Development together with Barolong boRatsidi will officially open first office for traditional health practitioners in Mafikeng on Friday, 16 July 2010.

The office will serve as a coordination point for traditional healers across the province. This comes at a time when the public healthcare system is in a dire need to reflect the diverse health discipline.

African traditional medicine has over the years, sustained healthcare service in the urban and rural areas, despite the marginalisation by the laboratory tested medicine.

The opening will be attended by 900 traditional healers. Media is therefore invited to official opening scheduled for 09h00 at Barolong hall.
