First-ever taxi training academy launched

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele will deliver the keynote address during the launch of the first-ever taxi industry training academy by the South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO).

The Minister, Free State MEC for Tourism, Environmental & Economic Affairs Mr. Dukwana, CEO of the Transport Training & Education Authority (TETA) Ms. Matlala, senior government officials and key stakeholders in the transport sector, will be hosted by SANTACO leadership under the Presidency of Mr. AJ Mthembu during the launch.

The Training Academy is part of SANTACO’s new vision, known as the TR3 2020 strategy, which seeks to transform the taxi industry.The Training Academy reinforces the taxi industry’s commitment towards the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 that aims to reduce the carnage on South Africa’s roads.

Through Operation Hlokomela, SANTACO seeks to improve driver and passenger safety as well as enhance customer care and responsible driving in the taxi industry.
