Farm sector public hearings heads to Free State

The Department of Labour’s nation- wide public engagements on the review of Sectoral Determination for Farm workers will head to Free State on Monday, 27 June, next week.

Fresh from the week- long blitzkrieg that saw several employers in the province being issued with compliance orders to tighten their compliance level in terms of the sector’s legislation, the consultations will see farmers and workers giving inputs on what should be amended on the current law governing the industry.

The hearings which started on June 6 and will end on 27 July 2011, will allow stakeholders across the country to provide comments on the wages and working conditions of the sector. The current sectoral determination will lapse on 29 February next year. Members of the media are invited to attend.

The events will take place as follows:
Date: 27 June 2011 (Monday)
Time: 10h00 for employers - 12h00 for employees
Venue: Youth Centre in Khotsong Township, Bothaville

Date: 28 June 2011 (Tuesday)
