Excelling health professionals to be honoured

Health Deputy Minister, Dr Gwendoline Ramokgopa, will reward excelling health practitioners from across the country at a ceremony taking place on Monday, 21 November 2011 at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.

The Health Excellence Awards, developed almost 10 years ago, aims to recognise and reward health professionals who demonstrate excellence beyond that required of their positions and who add value to their profession and workplace.

In handing over the awards under the theme “Quality in action is service excellence”, Dr Ramokgopa will be joined by representatives from Health Department partners such as South African Hospital Association (SAHA), Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) and South African Medical Association (SAMA).

Top awards boast the names of the late first black nurse to be registered in South Africa, Celilia Makiwane and environmental activist and politician, Alfred Nzo.
