SRSA recently completed work on the development of a Sport Event Impact Model (SEIM), a research tool meant to measure the economic, social and sport impact that sports events have on the economy and its hosting communities.
The SEIM was developed to assist with the planning and improvement of events, since it will point out the strengths and weakness of both past and planned events.
The SEIM, which consists of a software package and research tools and instruments, will be rolled out through partnerships between SRSA, research and tertiary institutions, and event organisers and hosts such as federations, and provincial and local authorities.
To this end a workshop will be hosted by SRSA and the City of Cape Town to reach agreement on an implementation and rollout framework.
The workshop will take place on 5 November 2009 in Cape Town, and will include a demonstration of the SEIM.
There is no charge for attending the workshop, and interested parties are invited to attend.
