Outcomes of the 34th meeting of SADC Energy Ministers

The Chairperson of the SADC Ministers responsible for Energy, assisted by SADC Secretariat, will brief the media on the outcomes of the 34th Meeting of SADC Energy Ministers held at Sandton Convention Centre. The meeting commenced on the Tuesday, 21 July 2015 and will end on Friday, 24 July 2015.

The meeting was convened to review the implementation of the SADC regional energy programme, which among others, includes a review of the power situation in the region, as well as the status of implementation of power related projects in the region and SADC Member States.

The meeting also considered progress relating to other forms of renewable energy as well as the development and implementation of the energy regulatory frameworks in the region. The SADC Energy Ministers Meeting is a statutory policy body in terms of the SADC Energy Protocol of 1996. The Meeting is hosted annually on a rotational basis. It brings together Ministers of Energy from the 15 SADC Member States.

The Department of Energy in partnership with SADC Energy Minister’s Secretariat, kindly invite the media to attend the briefing scheduled as follows:
