Education opens a R14 million worth Thomas Ntaba Secondary School

One of the Eastern Cape’s schools of excellence, Thomas Ntaba will tomorrow be officially opened by the Education MEC, the Honourable Mahlubandile Qwase tomorrow, the 23rd of April at 10h00.

The newly built R14 million 17 classroom structure with an administration block has the state of the art ablution facilities to cater for both the teachers and learners. Despite the fact that the school has been operating in temporary structures since it started in 1996, the school has been amongst the leading schools in academically performances. Due to its best performances, the school has attracted investors like the Kagiso Trust who have pumped monies to better systems of the schools. These newly acquired systems from the Kagiso Trust include computer equipment and its fitting, computer lab equipment and new furniture for the administration building.

The school is also regarded as the best example of a well managed school and has the best model for implementing principles of leadership, management and governance. It has also been used as part of the centres for curriculum transformation.

* 2002 school got 54.25%
* 2003’s pass rate was 66.67
* 2004’s pass rate was 75%
* 2005’s pass rate was 100%
* 2006 got 100% pass rate
* 2007 got 100% pass rate
* 2008 got 92% pass rate
* The school got 86% pass rate last year
* The winning team was a group of six ladies of which one has quitted school.
