Education MEC launches Quality Learning and Teaching campaign

‘Ensuring quality learning and teaching for all’

Free State MEC for Education, Tate Makgoe will launch the Quality Learning and Teaching campaign on Thursday, 25 February at Vredefort, SS Paki Secondary School at 10h00.

The objectives of the campaign are:

* To mobilise all sectors of civil society to play an active role to improve the level of education in the province.
* Inform citizens about the importance of education, and their roles, responsibilities
* Mobilise communities to monitor and support schools, teachers, and learners
* Improve the quality of education for all children, especially the poor and to demonstrate this improved quality through better learner achievement.

The campaign seeks to encourage all the stakeholders to play a more obligatory role and share responsibilities towards education. The Department of Education would like to categorically state that producing quality education depends on all stakeholders, department officials, school principals, educators, learners, parents, trade unions, school governing bodies and community members.

The mobilisation of all stakeholders to ensure quality learning and teaching makes education more than government responsibility but a societal concern.
