Education Department injects R71 million for two brand new schools

Free State Department of Education will launch the Fezile Dabi district School Based Infrastructure Development programme (SBIDP) in Kroonstad and officially opens two new schools in Welkom and Allanridge on the 21 May 2010.

The department through SBIDP seeks to establish the following: accelerate service delivery, empower small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) and workers through training, create employment opportunities and encourage schools governing bodies to look after the school buildings. The SBIDP has already been launched in Lejweleputswa district and will be rolled out in all the districts.

The department injected R36,3 million for the building of Mokgothu Primary School and R35,3 million for Memotso Primary Schools. The facilities include 26 classrooms, administration block, hall, media centre and two computer laboratories.

This is part of the Free State Department of Education "Design and Build" programme which seeks to eliminate the platoon schooling system in the province.
