ECDOT to host Provincial Maritime Cluster meeting

The Provincial Maritime Cluster meeting that was Scheduled to take place on the 19th  April 2012 at the Golf Club in East London has been postponed untill further notice.

The Eastern Cape Department of Transport (ECDOT) cordially invites you to an inaugural meeting of the Provincial Maritime Cluster which will be held at the East London Golf Club on 19 April 2012 at 09h00.

The formation of the Provincial Maritime Cluster has been prompted by the absence of a platform to drive key maritime initiatives, promote industry development and matters of common interest between the key role players. There is an identifiable gap in the Eastern Cape maritime sector for it lacks proper coordination both at industrial and provincial level hence the formation of the Provincial Maritime Cluster.

The ECDOT in its drive towards maritime industry development in the Eastern Cape has therefore sought to establish the provincial maritime cluster to foster an integrated approach to maritime sector's governance that is aimed at improving integrated planning, decision making and avoiding duplication.

It is the firm intention of the Eastern Cape MEC of Transport, the Honourable Ms T Marawu, to ensure that the maritime Industry is able to open up socio-economic opportunities for skills development and job creation within the province.

The expectations of the meeting are to engage with stakeholders as well as exchange ideas and take forward the Provincial Maritime Cluster in driving the strategic maritime interventions.
